  • Property address (used to look up your property in public appraisal records)
  • Email address (used to deliver your evidence packet)
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers)

Information collected automatically:

  • IP address (used for rate limiting and fraud prevention)
  • Browser type and operating system (standard server logs)
  • Pages visited and actions taken on the site (for improving the service)

Public appraisal data:

Property data displayed on TaxProtest.net (appraised values, square footage, year built, comparable properties) is sourced from public county appraisal district records. This data is already publicly available.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To look up your property in public appraisal records and generate your evidence packet
  • To deliver your evidence packet PDF to your email address
  • To process your payment via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails related to your purchase (receipt, delivery confirmation)
  • To detect fraud and enforce rate limits
  • To improve the accuracy and quality of our comp engine and AI narrative

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following service providers, as necessary to operate:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend / SendGrid — transactional email delivery of your PDF packet.
  • AWS S3 — temporary storage of generated PDF files.
  • Railway — cloud hosting provider for our servers and database.

We do not share your information with appraisal districts, government agencies, or any other third party except as required by law.

4. Data Retention

  • Generated PDF packets are stored in AWS S3 for 90 days after purchase, then automatically deleted.
  • Your email address and order record are retained for 3 years for legal and tax recordkeeping purposes, then deleted.
  • Property lookup logs (IP, address queried) are retained for 30 days, then deleted.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Opt out of any future marketing communications

6. Cookies

TaxProtest.net uses minimal cookies necessary for the service to function (session state, Stripe checkout). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

7. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. We follow industry-standard security practices for our database and infrastructure.

8. Children

TaxProtest.net is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. We will notify users of material changes via email. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
